Effects of Lamisil with Nortriptyline
I was prescribed Nortriptyline about 5 weeks ago, to assist me quitting smoking. That has been going fine at 75 mg per day.

I have also been prescribed Lamisil Tablets at 1 per day for treatment of fungal infection on my hand. The lamisil was prescribed 2 weeks after starting the Nortriptyline.

I asked the doctor if it was Ok to still take the anti-depressant, he said no problems. However I've been looking at information on Lamisil on the net tonight, and everywhere I read about lamisil, it states to tell your doctor if you are using any anti-depressants, and gives Nortriptyline as an example.

What are the risks (if any) by using both?

Thanks in advance.

New to Nortriptyline
You don't have to stop taking Nortriptyline for your panic attacks this drug really works but you need to take about 75 mg for it to be effective against it. The only side effect I've found with Nortriptyline is constipation which is a lot easier to put up with than a panic attack. Hope it helps.

New to Nortriptyline
Hi. I'm new to Nortriptyline, and TCA's in general. At one time I could take SSRI's but the nausea and gastrointestinal effects made them impossible for me to continue, especially after I was diagnosed with diabetes. A lot of physical tests were done to see if my nausea was caused by any diabetic effects, and all came out negative.
So my psychiatrist put me on first Xanax, then Valium, then we finally settled on Klonopin for an anti panic. But I was still depressed. The last time, a few days ago, I was in his office in uncontrollable tears and he put me on Nortriptyline.
For the first 3 days I was on 1 25-mg cap at night to see if my body would tolerate it. So far, the only side effect I get is parasthesia in one of my fingers. Hope that goes away, as I use that finger to read Braille, and that finger is quite numb. Anyway, after three days of 1 cap at night, I'm now in the second phase: 2 caps at night, totalling 50 mg. On Monday, if all goes well, I go to the full dose: 3 caps at night. I'm also still taking Klonopin.
I'm very new to TCA's, and Nortriptyline is the first I've tried. What can I expect from this drug--benefits, side effects, subjective experiences? Although I'm not bawling all the time, I feel a bit blah, or detached or something. I've only been on the medication since Tuesday, four days ago.
Also, the site doesn't mention nortriptyline as treating anxiety as well as depression, but my psychiatrist says it treats both. Why the discrepancy?
Someone, please tell me about what to expect as I am scared, but need to be on something for depression and anxiety.
Thea

Nortriptyline Experience
I took nortriptyline started at 25mg 3 a day, then went to 50mg at bedtime. My insurance was cut and I have not had it in about 3 weeks. Could there be affects from not getting my medication?
