| Nystatin and Triamcinolone (Topical) | Nystatin and triamcinolone (nye-STAT-in and trye-am-SIN-oh-lone ) combination contains an antifungal and a corticosteroid (kor-ti-co-STER-oid) (cortisone-like medicine). Antifungals are used to treat infections caused by a fungus. They work by killing the fungus or preventing its growth. This medicine will not work for other kinds of infections. Corticosteroids belong to the family of medicines called steroids. They are used to help relieve redness, swelling, itching, and other discomfort of many skin problems. This medicine is used to treat certain fungus infections, such as Candida (Monilia), and to help relieve the discomfort of the infection. Topical corticosteroids may rarely cause some serious side effects. Some of the side effects may be more likely to occur in children. Before using this medicine in children, be sure to talk to your doctor about these problems, as well as the good this medicine may do. Nystatin and triamcinolone combination is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage forms:

When given regularly to boys and girls, this medicine helps to prevent them from continuing to develop the sexual features associated with puberty, slowing down the development of breasts in girls and the development of genital areas in boys and girls. This medicine delays puberty in a child only as long as the child continues to take it. Nafarelin prevents the growth of tissue associated with endometriosis in adult women during treatment and for 6 months after treatment is discontinued. Reducing the amount of estrogen in the body is one way of treating endometriosis. Suppressing estrogen can thin the bones or slow their growth. This is a problem for adult women whose bones are no longer growing like the bones of children. Slowing the growth of bones is a positive effect for girls and boys whose bones grow too fast when puberty begins too early. This is why nafarelin is used only for up to 6 months in adult women treated for endometriosis, but often is used for a longer time in girls and boys with pubertal problems. Boys and girls may benefit by adding inches to their adult height when nafarelin causes their bones to grow at a proper rate. Nafarelin is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form:

| Nedocromil (Inhalation) | Nedocromil (ne-DOK-roe-mil ) is used to prevent the symptoms of asthma. When it is used regularly, nedocromil lessens the number and severity of asthma attacks by reducing inflammation in the lungs. Nedocromil is also used just before exposure to conditions or substances (for example, allergens, chemicals, cold air, or air pollutants) that cause reactions, to prevent bronchospasm (wheezing or difficulty in breathing). In addition, nedocromil is used to prevent bronchospasm following exercise. This medicine will not help an asthma or bronchospasm attack that has already started. Nedocromil may be used alone or with other asthma medicines, such as bronchodilators (medicines that open up narrowed breathing passages) and corticosteroids (cortisone-like medicines). Nedocromil works by acting on certain inflammatory cells in the lungs to prevent them from releasing substances that cause asthma symptoms and/or bronchospasm. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form:

| Nisoldipine (Systemic) | Nisoldipine (NYE-sole-di-peen) is a calcium channel blocking agent used to treat high blood pressure. Nisoldipine affects the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. It relaxes blood vessels and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart while reducing the heart's workload. High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure may also increase the risk of heart attacks. These problems may be less likely to occur if blood pressure is controlled. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form:

Naratriptan often relieves symptoms that occur together with a migraine headache, such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, and sensitivity to sound. Naratriptan is not an ordinary pain reliever. It should not be used to relieve any kind of pain other than migraine headaches. Naratriptan may cause serious side effects in some people, especially people who have heart or blood vessel disease. Be sure that you discuss with your doctor the risks of using this medicine as well as the good that it can do. Naratriptan is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form:

Nelfinavir will not cure or prevent HIV infection or AIDS; however, it helps keep HIV from reproducing and appears to slow down the destruction of the immune system. This may help delay the development of problems usually related to AIDS or HIV disease. Nelfinavir will not keep you from spreading HIV to other people. | Nicotine (Inhalation-Systemic) | Nicotine ( NIK-oh-teen) , in an inhaler, is used to help you stop smoking. It is used for up to 6 months as part of a stop-smoking program. This program may include counseling, education, specific behavior change techniques, or support groups. With the inhaler, nicotine is inhaled through the mouth and is absorbed in the mouth and throat, but not in the lungs. Eight to ten puffs on the inhaler provide about the same amount of nicotine as one puff on an average cigarette. This nicotine takes the place of the nicotine that you would otherwise get from smoking. In this way, the withdrawal effects of not smoking are less severe. Then, as your body adjusts to not smoking, the use of the nicotine inhaler is decreased gradually over several weeks. Finally, use is stopped altogether. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form:

These blood clots can travel to the lungs and can become lodged in the blood vessels of the lungs, causing a condition called pulmonary embolism. Nadroparin is used for several days after surgery, while you are unable to walk. Nadroparin also is used to prevent blood clots from forming during hemodialysis. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form:

| Nateglinide (Systemic) | Nateglinide (na-TEG-li-nide) is used to treat a type of diabetes mellitus (sugar diabetes) called type 2 diabetes. With this type of diabetes, insulin produced by the pancreas is not able to get sugar into the cells of the body where it can work properly. Using nateglinide alone, or with metformin or a thiazolidinedione (other types of oral antidiabetic medicines), will help to lower blood sugar when it is too high and help restore the way you use food to make energy. Many people can control type 2 diabetes with diet alone or with diet and exercise. Following a specially planned diet and exercising will always be important when you have diabetes, even when you are taking medicines. To work properly, the amount of nateglinide you take must be balanced against the amount and type of food you eat and the amount of exercise you do. If you change your diet, your exercise, or both, you will want to test your blood sugar to find out if it is too low. Your health care professional will teach you what to do if this happens. Nateglinide does not help patients who have insulin-dependent or type 1 diabetes because they cannot produce insulin from their pancreas gland. Their blood glucose is best controlled by insulin injections. Nateglinide does not help patients who have already been treated with other antidiabetic medicines for a long time. Nateglinide may be used together with metformin or a thiazolidinedione, but should not take the place of these medicines. Nateglinide is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form:
|

Hormones from the patch are absorbed through your skin into your body. It works by stopping a woman's egg from fully developing each month. The egg can no longer accept a sperm and fertilization is prevented. No contraceptive method is 100 percent effective. Birth control methods such as having surgery to become sterile or not having sex are more effective. Discuss with your health care professional your options for birth control. Niacin is a B-complex vitamin that reduces the amount of cholesterol in the blood. Lovastatin belongs to the group of medicines called 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors. It works by blocking an enzyme that is needed by the body to make cholesterol, thereby reducing the amount of cholesterol in the blood This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage forms:
