Risperdal
I have been diagnosed as bi-polar. I am not sure if that is exactly what i am though. In my understanding bi polar patients go through stages of mania and depression. I however do not actually cycle. I am just tired and pissed off all the time. I do not feel that I am sad or depressed......I am ANGRY! I fly off the handle al the time and feel like hurting people. Can any one suggest anything to help me? Right now I am on Lithium and Wellbutrin and Seroquil at bed time. Not helping! Prozac did not work or Paxil..do you think Risperdol is for me?

Starting clozapine/withdrawing bipolar meds
Thanks for writing back. The doctor I had before this one had me on Seroquel and Geodon, explaining that Seroquel had a more sedating effect which would help me sleep at night, while the Geodon didn't. Somehow, even though they're in the same class of phyche meds, one has something the other one doesn't. The new doctor I have is going to be weaning me off Seroquel and staying strictly with Clozaril. The transition has been rather scary, but I'm taking it one day at a time and trying not to think about going into another episode. I've had this monster since (diagnosed in 1988 but probably had it since 1977) and have learned to live with it. That's about all we can do and pray for a doctor experienced and knowledgeable enough to keep it under control. I'm into my tenth day of being off lithium, geodon, zoloft, provigil (couldn't wake up in the morning). It's been a little rocky but not as bad as I had anticipated. The next big step left is the getting off Seroquel. Please let me know how you're doing. Best of luck to you.

Starting clozapine/withdrawing bipolar meds
MAY DAY!MAY DAY! I'm about to be hospitalized to be taken off several bi-polar meds and started on clozapine. I'd love to hear from anyone who would like to tell me about their experience with it. Specifically, what to expect with regard to causation of seizures, weight changes and how it affected your personality and functioning of everyday life. I've been bi-polar since 1976 and have had several episodes. I'm now up to about 12 different meds per day and the side effects of all of them are making me crazier than the illness! My doctor doesn't anticipate a high dosage (we'll see about that!) - please give me your input if you'd like. Can't thank you enough! If any of you have questions about lithium, seroquel, mellaril, geodon, zoloft, depakote, klonopin, lexapro, lamictal, or topomax, I'd be more than happy to tell you all about them. Hope to hear from you. Thanks again.
