Insulin Glargine (rDNA origin) Injection

What storage conditions are needed for this medicine?
Store unopened insulin glargine vials and cartridges in the refrigerator. Never allow insulin glargine to freeze; do not use insulin glargine that has been frozen and thawed. Never heat insulin glargine to warm it. Unopened refrigerated insulin glargine can be stored until the date shown on the company's label.
If no refrigerator is available (for example, when on vacation), store the vials or cartridges at room temperature and away from direct sunlight and extreme heat. Unrefrigerated 10-ml vials or cartridges can be used within 28 days or they must be thrown away. Unrefrigerated 5-ml vials can be used for 14 days or they must be thrown away. Refrigerated 5-ml vials can be used for up to 28 days. Once the cartridge is placed in the OptiPen One Insulin Delivery Device, do not refrigerate. Throw away any insulin that has been exposed to extreme heat or cold.
When traveling, protect your insulin glargine vials from bumps or other rough handling (wrap them in clothes in the middle of a suitcase). Do not keep insulin in hot areas of a car such as the glove compartment or trunk. When traveling by airplane, do not put insulin in checked luggage since the luggage may be lost. Always keep insulin with you or in carry-on luggage.
Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.

Glyburide/Metform 2.5 Twice a day
My understanding is that Glyburide is used to flog the Pancreas to make it produce more insulin. However, from what I've heard (you should research it yourself) is that the bodies own immune system turns on the pancreas and distroys it in type 1 diabetes. With no pancreas to flog, I cannot see why your father would have been on Glyburide. But there may be other causes and results to type 1 diabetes. Metformin on the other hand works at getting cells to utilize the insulin that already exists in the body in type 2 or insulin resistant diabetes.. How effective has Glipizide Been For You
Good Evening, About six months ago, I was surprisingly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was originally put on insulin when I was hospitalized. After two months, I was given an oral medication called Glipizide and was even sent home on that medication. I have found the results from this medication far more successful than when I was on an insulin shot. I would enjoy corresponding with others who are on this medication. Glyburide/Metform 2.5 Twice a day
2 weeks ago I lost my father, 63 from what the ICU doctors called Lactic acidosis which is addressed in the first line of the "Before taking this medication" section of his prescription. My father was diagnosed with Type 1 about 12 years ago and been managing his blood sugar with 2 insulin shots a day. I'm not sure if it's common to prescribe this drug along with insulin shots for Type 1 patients but it clearly states on the drug website and the precautions it should not be used to treat Type 1 patients. My question to the forum is have you heard of using both to control sugar levels?

2 yr therapy / Prednisone 60mg to treat Temporal Arteritis
I have been on Prednisone 60mg for 2 months now. My doctor said its a 2 year long treatment for Temporal Arteritis. I have bad swelling throughtout my day and night. Yet, my family Doctor and Specialist agree I need to continue. The drug really aggrivates glucose levels in a diabetic. I am taking alot of insulin and it seems like a losing battle. The side effects of this medication feel toxic. Does anyone else have a lot of problems with this drug?
