Suicidality.
Anxiety can be quite scary and maybe medication could be a solution, but I find the ease with which doctors write prescriptions about rather disturbing. Nowadays anxiety is a very common, and can be worked through. Medication can hel to quit the symptoms but it really doesn't solve your problems that are causing to tou that, sometimes it's best to solve this things for yourself. I personally used a program at www.selftherapy.org which I though was pretty good. Perhaps your solution lies elsewhere. Good look!

Nausea!
I have Crohn's disease, and was recently put on Sulfasalazine to replace the Pentasa that I could not afford (love our health care system). I have been having numerous problems with the side effects of this medication, the worst being almost constant nausea. My doctor cut my dose in half, but it really hasn't helped that much. Wondering if anyone else has been on this, and found a solution to the nausea. Ginger ale just isn't cutting it. Any info or personal experience would be helpful.

help!
Hi Anna Its a toughy as only you know how you really feel. I have been taking fluoxetine for 5 years now and if I did it all over again I wouldn't take them. Only for the reason it is so hard to come off them. Its not that they are addictive but more that they make you feel better and you are scared that will stop. As I said only you know how you feel but I would try and be strong and get through the hard times by surrounding yourself with family, good friends and talking to people all of these really help. On the other hand if you feel you have done all of these things and really can't pull yourself through, take them for a short while, there is no doubt they help and try and do other things that will make you happy! They are not a stand alone solution. I hope this doesn't sound too confusing. good luck

trazodone problem
Hmmmm...I have taken inexpensive fiber products for the same reasons. Don't buy the inexpensive types. This is one area where spending a bit more for fiber pays off. I recommend well known names.
Now...it's smart to research this as some feel that fiber can actually carry some vitamin and drugs more easily out of the system w/o being well absorbed.
This fiber option is a good one and sometimes I take twice the dosage but...I alternate! I fear the depletion of drug and vitamin supplement absorption, so that's why I rotate or am careful. I like the apple flavor. They are expensive!
I alternate this with stool softeners. Research that too! It's safer than many a laxative but often laxatives have the same major ingredient.
This is confusing, I know. So check the major ingredient of a laxative to make sure it's not just the stool softener with a different label.
You don't want to just take that continually for so many, many reasons. (Consider the results for those who are anorexic and using such.)
Just use your best judgement and do the research and alternate your solutions. To me that means, take cookies or fiber products in a normal amount but several times a week, take double the dose.
Then use a stool softener on some other days. Then take some older solution on other days!
You can always take the recommended dosage of fiber products on a daily basis to prevent colon cancer, etc.
Also, I'd research older remedies that are well known and effective. Ughh....castor oil! But there's so many good things about this ugly tasting oil. I do believe it now might be found w/o the ugly taste.
Others will post their suggestions, I hope. With any, just rotate so that your system won't become rather "addicted" to one. Also, remember, you may lose water, and risk serious health issues with over doing laxatives.
Make the solution and research fun! Finding old remedies and cross reference them with "drug interactions," "contra-indications" and use of the particular solution when used over long periods of time.
Ughhh...again....enemas are already packaged and over the counter. Always have one or two available for emergencies. Always! You'll not regret it! This general discussion of constipation applies to narcotic pain meds too.
Ask your physician too! Now be careful here as all physicians aren't that careful and yours might rx one of these when rotating is safer for so very many, many reasons.
I try to take fiber daily at the recommended levels, upping such on some days, and also rotate with other solutions. Fiber in correct doses is so beneficial!
Try fiber cereals too! Go for it! Eat them while watching tv w/o milk, if you wish!
I have taken Trazodone. If you are a male, it is imperative that you research the possible side effects, of course!
There is also epsom salts. This one I'd surely research as it is a salt. Careful here for salt intake, possible precursor to a heart condition, etc.
Milk of magnesia! Again, do you homework. Magnesia must be cross referenced too for many reasons. Rotate all! Find out the dosages that will work for you for each of these. It's a lot of work but safe is better than some ugly problem that could have you end up in the hospital in a serious heart or related condition due to loss of water and nutrients that are needed to maintain a normal "system." (Loss of correct vocabulary is suddenly hitting me! Sorry!)
Rotate! Rotate! Be safe!
Good luck! I hope I've helped! [Wink]

Side effect of Trazodone
Hmm... I wonder if you're not feeling the drugged side effects? I most assuredly feel those!
That's what I wanted to discuss.
I wake in the mornings feeling drugged but it does wear off. It also leaves me with a valid feeling of fatigue even with a normal night's amount of sleep.
I wouldn't sue. I'd see a phsychiatrist and try another medication. You're trying to do this all alone and posting here. That makes me sad! You need support and proper help.
Agoraphobia. I get that too. I force myself to go outside and once there, (for example, I force myself to go shopping for whatever I want and pleases me), a bit of normality returns. I can be agoraphobic due to fear or just because I wanna stay home.
Suicide: That's a signal for help. Also, rather than that extreme, I suggest a better psychiatrist or, weird as it sounds, running away. Seriously! If one is that close, run away to Mexico or somewhere lovely. It may turn out horrible or might be a valid solution.
Some say to stay and face your problems. I'm not one of those people as sometimes running away is the right thing to do. Run from abuse. Run from bad influences. Run from a horrid job. Run to something that might be better and make it better! It has worked for many. Example: why do people move after retirement? Because to stay is not the reward they are seeking. To stay isn't that good at all for some. So they move to Florida, Mexico, Europe, etc. I hope this appears logical.... LOL!

One runs to a new and better life. If that doesn't work, then go back and face your problems.
But don't give up. There's sunrises and sunsets you'll miss.
You'll miss shopping, pets, , stars in the sky, laughter, fun movies, smells, food(!), etc.
Also, those in the U.S. are often richer than any king or queen in most of history. Appreciate that!
We have anti-biotics, hair dryers, never have to be cold or hungry, for the most part of us....
We are rich!
I consider suicide then I go through this list and always, always change my mind. It's a fleeting thought with me. I think we all look at suicide as an alternative at sometime. Most just find their list or do something fun to change the topic in their minds...
I always find a reason to live as life changes and yours will too! I hope you're still around!

Also, ask physician/phsych. to lower your dosage. Try that. Then try another drug if that doesn't help.
That hungover feeling might not be leaving your body so you feel depressed due to that "drugged" feeling. Drink tons more water. Take something like milk thistle or enzymes to get it out of your system sooner in the day. Just non-medical suggestions.

Please have your liver enzymes checked also.
I have an impaired liver due to hepatitis.
Now I feel "drugged" by trazodone much more easily than most, I believe.
My major question is, will 1 50 mg. still have an anti-depressant effect as 100 mg. leaves me feeling drugged! I will post this in a new thread also. I want to know if others find 50 mg. satisfactory.
I hope I'm making some sense. Also, too lazy to do spell checks.
