possible doseing
Recently in the ER for a bad case of rapid spreading cellulitis i was given a dose of genta, combined with a dose of clindamycin both IV push.... then i was put on clindamycin...

for about 24 hrs the healing was amazing...

but now after 36 hrs i almost feel like i need more gentamicin.... sigh.... but i don't want to go inpatient unless there's no other way.

And i read that genta is not usually given orally....

any other ideas or suggestions for treatment?

I'm taking the clindamycin... and yes if need be i will go inpatient, but... i'd really rather not....

possible doseing
I went into the hospital er was given a shot of clindamysin in the muscle, a bottle to take home and also a bottle of for the same diagnosis. cellulitis, over jaw and neck. It has been 6 days and I still have signs of it. This all began when after taking antibiotics for 2 years because "Dentical" would not pull my teeth and simply kept giving me antibiotics. I finally got my teeth pulled, however I ended up with this crap within 24 hours after they were pulled. It has re occurred about 20 times in the last 5 years now, however this week was the very worst it has ever been. My current quack of a doctor kept telling me it was viral. I just had a bone fusion on my lower back and am concerned now that I may have problems with this surgery due to the infection. Any info on this?If the gentamicin helped you, maybe this is what I need too. This infection has left pigment blotches all over my neck that have never gone away. [Roll Eyes] Bacterial Infection that wont go away!

INDOMETHACIN for inflammation by the hernia area
This is what "surfaced" during my research on INDOMETHACIN. Brand names:
Indocin Capsules/Suspension/Suppositories;
Indocin SR;
Indochron E-R)
Prescribed for Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, menstrual pain, tendinitis, bursitis, painful shoulder, gout (except Indocin SR), sunburn prevention and treatment (as a cream or lotion), and migraine and cluster headache prevention, (except Indocin SR). Indomethacin can be used to prevent premature labor, but this can affect the development of the baby's heart and should be avoided. The drug is also used in place of surgery to treat a reare condition in premature infants called patent ductos arteriosus, where the baby's heart is not fully formed. Topical Indomethacin has been used as eyedrops to treat a severa and unusual inflammation of part of the retina.
General Information
INDOMETHACINis one of 16 nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which are used to relieve pain and inflammation.We do not know exactly how NSAIDs work, but part of their action may be due to an ability fo inhibit the body's production of a hormone called prostaglandin and to inhibit the action of other body chemicals, including cyclo-oxygenase, lipoxygenase, leukotrienes, lysosomal enzymes, and a host of other factors. Indomethacin is absorbed into the bloodstream fairly quickly. Pain relief comes about 30 minutes after taking the firs dose and lasts for 4 to 6 hours, but the drug's anti-inflammatory effect takes a week to become apparent, and may take 2 weeks to reach its maximum effect. Indomethacin is broken down in the liver and eliminated through the kidneys.
There's three more pages of data! (cautions, warnings, drug interactions, etc.) I got tire of typing/copying from "The Pill Book" 7th edition (1996). hope this helps
Peace be with you
