Risperidone (Risperdal) Forum - Should I go onto Risperidone??

I've been suffering from depression for a few years now and been on Fluxoritine for 18 months. The doctor has now prescribed Risperidone to try and control my mood swings. I also suffer from weight gain and being large upsets me. Is Risperidone likely to put more weight on? <IMG title="" alt=[Confused] src="confused.gif" border=0>

Hi, I'm Ana from Romania and within my work i had contacts with Risperidone, with doctors who administrate it and studies regarding Risperidone and many other substances. Unlike olanzapine for example which works in the same way, studies demonstrated and also doctors said that you don't gain weight taking Risperidone. I thought maybe this information can help.<BR>All best to you

unfortunately, yes it does....i myself have been on risperidone and it made me gain weight, but thankfully after coming off it and with the help of exercise i have lost this extra weight. it all depends on how your body reacts to the drug
