My GP prescribed this in 5 mg doses to take in conjunction with 10 mg Lexapro, as treatment for depression. I thought the risperdal was prescribed to me for Bi-polar disorder. Is that usual? My psychiatrist has me on risperdal for bi-bolar too. I thought it was for schizophrenia.

dear cynthiakay. i started taking risperidone for 2 years in 1995. it helped a bit. i am now on clozaril.

i have paranoid schizophrenia, and tried 7 medicines before i got to clozaril!

My brother has just been prescribed Reperdal for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I'd just like to know other's experiences with the drug and if anyone has been prescribed this drug for this certain illness.

I took risperidone for 2 years as an anti-psychotic. It made me put on about 1 and a half stone, made me very tired and didn't help my symptoms fully. Next I tried: Olanzapine, chlorpromazine, stellazine, melloril and finally the one that worked - clozaril! Hurray!!

I have been diagnosed as bi-polar. I am not sure if that is exactly what i am though. In my understanding bi polar patients go through stages of mania and depression. I however do not actually cycle. I am just tired and pissed off all the time. I do not feel that I am sad or depressed......I am ANGRY! I fly off the handle al the time and feel like hurting people. Can any one suggest anything to help me? Right now I am on Lithium and Wellbutrin and Seroquil at bed time. Not helping! Prozac did not work or Paxil..do you think Risperdol is for me?
