|
|
| I have Crohn's disease, and was recently put on Sulfasalazine to replace the Pentasa that I could not afford (love our health care system). I have been having numerous problems with the side effects of this medication, the worst being almost constant nausea. My doctor cut my dose in half, but it really hasn't helped that much. Wondering if anyone else has been on this, and found a solution to the nausea. Ginger ale just isn't cutting it. Any info or personal experience would be helpful. |

| Hi,
I just started on sulfasalazine for arthritis. I can't tell if it is making me sleepy or what. Just had it for one day now.

I have pain in my feet, knees and lower back. Plus I get carpel tunnel syndrome. So my activities are limited. The RA Doc took several blood samples and found that I have a gene marker for arthritis.

It comes in the form of lower back pain, feet pain and knee pain. My knees and feet only hurt when I have been using them to balance or when I squat to do some gardening. I don't always get on my knees due to the soil being wet or I have better clothes on.

My hands just ache as I drive for 5 hours straight just keeping the steering wheel straight, the vehicle seems to veer to the left. I have to have that checked out. Then my lower back aches because of the long sitting in the driver's seat.

So I'm hoping this med works and prevents future arthritis. The Doc also found out that I'm anemic. I've called back to hear my lab reports again as I can't remember everything the Dr. said.

But nobody from his office has called back yet.

I also suffer from Clinical Depression and I'm on Effexor and Wellbutrin (generic)also.

karalyn |

| Hi,
I have been on sulfasalazine for over a year now, for RA. I have alot of pain in my lower back and Knee's and feet and hands. I fight with swelling all the time and I work full time. I drive around 160 miles a day.

the only problem I have had with this medication is blurred vision. My eye doctor has helped me with that.

I could not function with out this med. I have tryed all kinds of different ones and this is the only one that I have found to let me live a normal as possible life. I take 3ooo mg every day.

If you can find something to help you with the side effects. It would be in your best interest to keep taking it.

I have been fighting ra for years and as far as I am concerned this drug is a blessing.

Chris

--------------------
Christine
|

| Hi,
I just started taking sulfasalazine for ulcerative colitis. It helped a a lot with the symptons, but after about 5 days on it, i developed a very intense half sided, throbbing headache. I initially thought this was because I had been doing a lot of reading, and spent a whole day resting, with no relief. On second thoughts, i think it may have been due to the drug. Has anybody else noticed this effect? It's also difficult to keep up the fluid intake required for this drug, coz I have this funny taste in my mouth that makes it hard to drink water, and I'm watching my weight, so a lot of sweet drinks will not do either.
Any help, anyone? |

| Hello

I've recently been diagnosed with a form of Arthirtis (a synovite (liquid) in my left wrist & serious swollenness/pain in my arms/ left wrist. I've been on Sulfasalazine 2000 mg/day for 7 weeks as well as for intestin problems which I've just begun experiencing 9 weeks now. I am still feeling pain and swollenness in my left arm especially whilst doing very little to entice this pain. I'm going thru a few side effects (bloating, intestin, digesting, head aches, lack of sleep, dizziness) including a newly created ulcer situation for which I am taking Apo Omeprazole 20 mg. My objective is to return to my job (been off for 9 weeks now) as legal secretary typing all day long.

I've been taking full dosage for 7 weeks so I was expecting to have less pain and only after over usage of my arms and feel the swollenness disappear, moreso when my arm is resting and I seriously economize the usage of my arms currently.

Is this med effective for me....the blood test results seem puzzling for me as compared to when I was not taking this med i.e. HS-CRP 25.78 (before 14.70) & Sedmintation at 48 (same as before Sulfa. I'm merely worried that I am taking this med without any viable benefits that I can detect thus far.

My rhumatologist did advise me to look into my intestin situation to see if my above results are not attributed to my intestins rather than my arms. However, my arms are in pain and swollen at the moment (as usual) and I'm not even back at work yet.

Any advise or words of encouragement???

--------------------
MC
|

|
|
| After my doctor prescribed 50 MG of canada Cialis, I took my first pill last night. When first starting intercourse I was fully erect but after about a minute started to lose the erection. Eventho we tried, I was not able to get fully hard again or reach climax. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. After finding this forum this morning, I found a number of items regarding when to take the pill (my doctor told me 30 mins prior to intercourse), and, surprisingly, how food effects the results. We had family over for dinner at which time I had 3 beers and a cheeseburger with french fries for supper. I took the pill as soon as they left and had (or)attempted intercourse less than an hour later. I guess what I am looking for is positive feedback that the timing was poor and that I can except better results next time!!! I need all the encouragement I can get! |

Hi,
I can understand that you have just started to take sulfasalazine.
I am taking the medicine for past 8 months for the problem of my low back pain. As the doctor told, it took a month for me to realize the effect of the medication. Initially for first 6 months i had to take few general multivits and folic along with the main medication. but now i have stopped taking all those and i am consuming 2 sulfasalazine capsules one in morning and one in night. Though i am not totally revealed from the problem, i am much better than what i was before.
So, nothing to worry.
let me know on what you are suffering so that i can know your problem better.Because sulfasalazine is adviced for many problems which are not exactly RA but related in someway or the other.
Take care. _________________ God Bless.
