Hello, I'm new to this forum. I've been able to find lots of information on cyproheptadine for humans, but none for cats. A vet prescribed it for my cat as an appetite stimulant, and I was wondering if anyone else has used it for cats/dogs/any animal?

Thanks

My cat (Bengal) has been taking Cyproheptadine for a few years. He has a liver condition and was not eating. Instead, he was chewing the fur off of his stomach. We went to the breeder's vet and he suggested, among other drugs, we should try Cyproheptadine. The Cypro increased his appetite and as a result, we noticed he has more energy. He's like a normal cat, only a little more high maintenance. I cut a pill in half and give it to him morning and evening.

Ohhh, I'm sorry to hear he was chewing his fur off! My cat's only been "fasting" for about a week or so. More energy would be great;I worry because he's also on steroids and I don't want him gaining too much weight.
