I had psychosis and now I have depression. I've been taking risperidone for a long time, 10 months and it made me fat. I want desperately to be thin again so I am refusing to take the medecine anymore. Has anyone else done this or know what happens when you suddenly stop taking it?

BUT in saying that...If being fat is going to cause more problems than the medication was prescribed for in the first place, the medication then becomes a bigger problem than the problem its supposed to cure. Well all i can suggest is lots of exercise, less eating. I eat lots on it too, only im turning my extra fat into muscle...solid, robust muscle.

I've been on risperidone for about eighteen months and i've put on two stone. I'm sick of feeling fat and i am thinking of coming off it too but i'm scared i'll start having horrible intrusive thoughts again. Also I was on valium for a couple of months, up to 20mg a day in the first few weeks and i didn't find the withdrawal symptons as bad as everyone made out, but i reduced it realy slowly.
