Estrogens (Vaginal)

Brand name(s): Estrace

Description

Estrogens ( ES-troe-jenz) are hormones produced by the body. Among other things, estrogens help develop and maintain female organs.

When your body is in short supply of this hormone, replacing it can ease uncomfortable changes that occur in the vagina, vulva (female genitals), and urethra (part of the urinary system). Conditions that are treated with vaginal estrogens include a genital skin condition (vulvar atrophy), inflammation of the vagina (atrophic vaginitis), and inflammation of the urethra (atrophic urethritis).

Estrogens work partly by increasing a normal clear discharge from the vagina and making the vulva and urethra healthy. Using or applying an estrogen relieves or lessens:

  • Dryness and soreness in the vagina
  • Itching, redness, or soreness of the vulva
  • Feeling an urge to urinate more often then is needed or experiencing pain while urinating
  • Pain during sexual intercourse

When used vaginally or on the skin, most estrogens are absorbed into the bloodstream and cause some, but not all, of the same effects as when they are taken by mouth. Estrogens used vaginally at very low doses for treating local problems of the genitals and urinary system will not protect against osteoporosis or stop the hot flushes caused by menopause.

Estrogens for vaginal use are available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage forms:

    Vaginal
  • Conjugated Estrogens
    • Cream (U.S. and Canada)
  • Estradiol
    • Cream (U.S.)
    • Insert (or ring) (U.S. and Canada)
  • Estrone
    • Cream (Canada)
    • Suppositories (Canada)

Clindamycin - Vaginal Cream
Has anyone had to take this for bacterial vaginosis? If so, what were he side effects from taking it? I believe the skin between my butt and upper thighs, right below my vaginal entry is irritated. I really have to get a good look at it to be sure but I know it feels that way. I've also been getting a discharge, which I expect but sometimes it's mixed with brownish red. Is this something I should let my doctor know about? I've already had to switch from Flagyl because it made me sickenly nauseated.

Clindamycin - Vaginal Cream
I USED CLYNDESE (I THINK THATS HOW IT IS SPELLED)THIS IS THE SAME AS CLYNDAMICIN. IT IS A SINGLE DOSE OF VAGINAL CREAM AND IT GAVE ME A YEAST INFECTION, WHICH CAUSED THE INFLAMATION THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. NOW I AM USING FLUCONAZOLE ( I PILL 150 mg) AND I HAVE YET TO FEEL ANY RELIEF. THIS IS HORRIBLE!

Production of Trazadone
See answer above. That is how I arrived at this board. But I don't get it. This might not be the manufacturer? Perhaps we need to research Pharmaceutical World or trazodone + .com.
Trazodone is the generic name for desyrel.
I think the drug is so old that whoever manufactured desyrel doesn't anymore as I did enter desyrel + .com and came up with nothing using MSN search. Hmm......

But do check out this cool link which I found here (!) too regarding all generic drugs:

Metronidazole (Baterial Vaginosis)
I also took metronidazole in the form of a vaginal gel for a yeast infection. Two days after starting the medication, I also broke out in a severe rash. The rash is still spreading after 12 days, despite treatment with methylprednisolone (7 days)and diphenhydramine. This treatment arrested the rash, but it began spreading again as soon as the treatment stopped.

How do I get rid of the rash?
