Getting off lorazepam
Ativan is quite hard to get rid of because its half life is very short and withdrawal symptoms are more likely than with a benzo having a longer half life. To stop altogether I switched to a longer half life drug, diazepam. then slowly reduced this one and came out of it nearly effortlessy. It depends of the different chemical structure and the time it stays in your system. Diazepam weans you off more gently.

Olanzapine/Zyprexa
on 5mg noticed agitation/akasthisia, stiffness of my arms & "air guitar" movements of the fingers. these symptoms lessened reduced to 2.5mg. which my pdoc says isn't a therapeutic dose. i'm sleeping a lot. but that's probably my depression. am still needing diazepam to counter anxiety

Risperidone Journal 04/05
Hi.

My name is Kyle and today I'm starting back on Risperidone to see if I can calm some stuff down in my head.

I started a very long time ago with 0.5mg and was moved up to 2.0mg which I've not taken in a long time.

Hard times have come around, and mere dodgey thoughts are what goes on in my head. Personally, I've put it along with 150mg of Effexor XR, which will run out in 30 days...no medical insurance I'm banking on my supply of risperidone to help pull me out of the brink of destruction. Perhaps the Effexor can work within it's few weeks to help.

Although far to early to tell, this is the first night, we'll see how it reacts - how my behavior is over the next following days. I'll post, and tell...perhaps it can help someone else along the lines.

I'm detoxing off Valium (diazepam) at the moment, which I'm getting off of period. All these drugs, and they do no good...perhaps this one will work for just enough time to pull my head out of the water.

I've given it a trial before - a run it's been given. The sexual side effects are far from enjoyable, but if I actually follow through - and stop some of the other drug use, maybe it can do it's thing.

I understand how the drug works - and technically I'm a bi-polar, not a schit. I do have some traits however, so we'll see how that plays in. Let's just say I have a very short fuse with well anyone and anything.

So on 04/12/05 starting out w/2mg Risperidone twice a day as the bottle says....let's see how I am this time tomorrow night.

If anyone has any recommendations - PLEASE let me know. I'm not sure where this site is based, but not having health care in America puts a terrible burden among those in my situation.

I'm hoping 3 months of medication will be enough to pull me from the brink.
